Kansas Civil Air Patrol Plane Crashes, Killing Two

The bodies of two Caney Civil Air Patrol members have been recovered from the wreckage of their plane in the Walnut River, seven miles southeast of Winfield, Maj Bentley Barnabas, public relations officer of the Kansas C.A.P. wing, has announced.

The bodies, Major Barnabas said, are those of:
Capt Irwin S. Wemmer, 51
Lt John W. Wallace, 47

Wemmer, a member of the National Guard and recently executive officer and acting commander of C.A.P. Group 6, was assistant postmaster at Caney.

His widow survives.

Wallace was a World War I veteran and commanding officer of the Caney squadron.

The two fliers had been sought since last Sunday when they disappeared during a flight from Coffeyville to Anthony.
