[A Civil Air Patrol member from Wood Dale] was indicted Friday by a Du Page County grand jury on charges that he sexually molested four boys 13 to 16 years old.
Gary L. Monroe, 36, of 308 N. Ash St., was indicted on five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of child pornography, said Dennis Koletsos, operations commander of the Wood Dale Police Department. Monroe has been free on bond since he was arrested in January.
Monroe was a foster parent and a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol, a civilian auxiliary to the Air Force that runs a youth program. He also had been an assistant scoutmaster with Wood Dale Boy Scout Troop 65 until last year.
If convicted, Monroe faces a sentence of 3 to 7 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines for each count of sexual abuse, and 1 to 3 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines for the child pornography charge, Koletsos said.
